7. Discovery

  • So let’s say some of you say you’re, let’s say for example, I’m a finance coach, maybe you’re just an accounting coach, right? Maybe you’re an accounting coach, for example. So let’s say I say, so you know, when I first begin, I actually started off my background being a, you know, admin, you know, for someone in finance. And when I first started out, you know, I ever remember my manager telling me that, you know, it takes a long time to be, you know, a great finance manager, da-da-da-da-da-da, you know, a lot of certification, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, and I’m going to take a long time to get there. But when I became an admin, I realized I have a gift. My gift was that I’m able to see something very complex or something very simple.
  • I discovered that my gift is always whenever there’s a complex theory and there’s a complex P&L that my manager would tell me to do, I could interpret it in a very quick manner and I was able to present the information in a simple manner. And I would do that and I would show that to my manager and my manager would always tell me how did you do that? That’s a great job. How can you do more of that? And I did more and I did more and I did more and I did more of that. In two years I was promoted to a da da da da da. Right? And then I realized I have a passion to teach. I have a passion to simplify theories and I have a passion to teach these theories to the people that actually needs to understand that. Because I realized a lot of business owners actually don’t understand that.
  • So I decided, hmm, why not maybe I should go around telling business owners and maybe teaching them. And I realized that a lot of business owners, when we talk about finances, they always just reply us saying that I’ll just leave it to my accountant, I’ll just leave it to this person, they will handle it. What do I need to know? Okay. And then I wrote a blog post because I quit my job, I wanted to train people in this.
  • And I realized that people actually see the importance of finance and I wonder why to myself. I wonder is it that business owners doesn’t understand the importance of finance. And I taught and I taught and I taught and I thought, perhaps it’s because I didn’t simplify the importance of finance to business owners. So I started going around teaching people saying that, hey, do you want to make more money?
  • And then the business owner would say yes Okay. Okay. That’s a great job. How can you do more of that? And I did more, and I did more, and I did more, and I did more of that. In two years, I was promoted to a da-da-da-da-da, right?
