Xero Blind Spots — 1-Page Cheat Sheet
Use the casino rule: rack chips before you play. Works even if you’ve never heard of Profit First.
What trips most owners
- One big bank balance feels spendable… until payroll and tax show up.
- P&L says win, bank says no chips. That “profit” isn’t parked anywhere.
- Spending by vibe. No weekly limit means the table always takes more.
Your new table rules
- Rack your chips: Profit first, Tax next, then OPEX.
- Skim 1% from every inflow into Profit. Start tiny so it sticks.
- Weekly cap: move only this week’s OPEX into the spend tray.
- Pay bills from OPEX only. Profit and Tax trays stay off-limits.
Mini glossary
- Chip tray = a separate bank bucket with one job.
- Rack = move money into trays before spending.
- 1% first = a small automatic win you actually keep.
